July 2026 NEWSLETTER

A MESSAGE FROM OUR CEO

Dear Families,

Welcome to summer! For many of our children, summer is a time to get outside, spend time with family and friends, be active, and have fun. All of those are important parts of a full and joyful childhood, so we hope that all of our children enjoy plenty of fun in the sun this summer. And just as important, summer is a critical time for your children to keep learning.

Please make sure that your children are reading this summer –even 20-30 minutes a day helps your children build their reading stamina and maintain important skills, so they can hit the ground running when they return to school in the fall.

The summer is also a great time to explore the city’s many museums and cultural events, like the free NYC Math Festival on July 11, Uptown Bounce at El Museo del Barrio on July 23, and the West Harlem Summer Jazz Festival in multiple locations and dates throughout the summer. Exposing your children to new people, places, and art forms expands their horizons and opens their imagination to new possibilities for their futures.

We look forward to seeing you at our EHTP family events this summer as well, and to welcoming you back for another great school year in September!

Warmly,

Marina.

Celebrating Our Wonderful 8th Graders at Graduation

What an incredible, unforgettable milestone! This past June, the energy at East Harlem Scholars Academy was absolutely electric as we officially celebrated our incredible 8th graders during their promotion ceremony.

The auditorium was filled to the brim with love, joy, and profound pride as families, friends, and staff gathered to cheer on our rising high schoolers.

To the parents, guardians, and families who filled the room: thank you. Your unwavering support, late-night pep talks, and dedication have been the backbone of your scholar’s success. This victory belongs to you just as much as it does to them!

Congratulations to the Class of 2030!

EAST HARLEM SCHOLARS ACADEMY II

A Legacy of Excellence:

Congratulations to the Scholars II 8th Grade Class of 2026

This year's graduation ceremony was beautiful, emotional, and deeply meaningful for the East Harlem Scholars Academy II community. As our 8th graders walked across the stage, we didn’t just celebrate the completion of middle school; we celebrated the incredible legacy of a school community that has meant so much to all of us and so much to EHTP.

With Scholars II merging with Scholars I for the 2026-2027 school year in the building on Second Avenue, this graduation marked a historic milestone. To the families who filled the room with cheers, tears, and unconditional love: thank you. Your partnership and faith in our vision have been the heartbeat of Scholars II.

None of this would be possible without the phenomenal Scholars II teachers and staff. To our educators: thank you for your tireless dedication, your late nights, and the boundless love you poured into these students. You built a safe, inspiring home for our scholars to grow. The impact you’ve made will ripple forward for years to come.

Graduates, you will take East Harlem Scholars II with you wherever you go. Step into high school with your heads held high, ready to conquer the challenges and embrace the joys ahead.

EAST HARLEM SCHOLARS ACADEMY HIGH SCHOOL

Congratulations to the Graduating Class of 2026

The hallways are a little quieter now because the East Harlem Scholars Academy High School Class of 2026 has officially left the building!

These graduates arrived at this milestone through sheer dedication,

, and an unwavering commitment to their future. They represent the very best of East Harlem, and our entire community stands behind them, endlessly proud of everything they have achieved over the last four years.

A special shoutout goes to our incredible academic leaders, Valedictorian Daniel Saldana and Salutatorian Eric Santi, for their exceptional hard work and dedication to excellence!

As these scholars step into their next exciting chapter, we ask them to remember the roots that grounded them and the wings they’ve built right here. We know the lessons and skills mastered at EHSA will take them to incredible places.

We wish them the absolute greatest success. The world is ready for their brilliance!

OUT OF SCHOOL TIME

College Scholars: Senior Send Off 2026

In June, we celebrated the incredible students in our College Mentoring Program at our 2026 Senior Send-Off! To help gear up our scholars for this next exciting chapter, every student walked away with a brand-new free laptop and a college sweatshirt to proudly represent their future campus.

From East Harlem to college campuses across the country, these students prove exactly what is possible with dedication and heart.

The next leg of the hard work starts now as they transition into our College Scholars program, but we want them to know that we’ve got their backs every single step of the way.

This year, East Harlem Scholars Academy High School had impressive numbers. The Class of 2026 achieved some of the strongest post-secondary outcomes in our school’s history:

  •  98% applied to a four-year college or university

  •  95% were accepted

  •  90% will matriculate

  •  6% will serve in the military

  • 4% will enter the workforce

Join us in congratulating the phenomenal Class of 2026, and wish them the best of luck on the journey ahead!

Bizzy Bee, Cosmetology Project

Our Grade 3rd–5th grade OST scholars created the Bizzy Bee Hair Salon in their Makeup Cosmetology Class as an end-of-year project. Grounded in the theme "The Future We Imagine," these young creatives spent the final weeks of the program learning essential adult skills and stepping into the shoes of beauty entrepreneurs.

On the technical side, students mastered the artistry of box braiding, cornrows, and sleek ponytails, alongside everyday "light-beat" and glamorous full-face makeup routines. Beyond the salon chair, the class dove into financial literacy by learning how to value their time and price their services.

They capped off the project by drafting a comprehensive business plan to launch their very own future salons. We are incredibly proud of their innovation and entrepreneurial spirit, and we cannot wait to see where these future beauty CEOs go next!
