Dear Families,
What a wonderful first week of school it has been!
Our schools have been filled with energy and excitement as scholars returned to their classrooms, reunited with friends and teachers, and settled into a new year of learning. It has been so special to see their smiles, enthusiasm, and excitement for all that this year will bring. |
|

|
|
|
A new school year is a chance to start fresh, set new goals, and dream big. As we look ahead, we also want to celebrate the incredible progress our scholars made last year. We saw meaningful growth across every subject area, including some of our strongest results in school history: |
|
|
- Math: 52% of scholars in grades 3โ8 reached proficiency, up 8 points from last year.
- Science: Fifth- and eighth-grade proficiency increased by 21 points.
- Regents: Passing rates increased by an average of 27 points across exams, with record-high results in Global History and English.
- AP Exams: Scholars achieved our highest results yet, including a 78% passing rate on AP African American Studies.
- Math: Scholars' math proficiency is 6% higher than the District 4 Average.

These results are a reflection of the hard work of our scholars, teachers, school leaders, and families. They remind us what is possible when we believe in our young people and give them the support, challenge, and encouragement they need to thrive.

This year, we are continuing that work, strengthening teaching and learning, expanding opportunities for our scholars, and making sure every young person feels supported, challenged, and prepared for college and beyond.

Back to School is a great opportunity to meet teachers, learn more about what scholars will be learning this year, and build a strong school-parent partnership that is essential to student success.
